When it comes to your computer, what do you actually need?

For so many of us, having the newest and most gadgets has become a status symbol of sorts.  Gone are the days when the person who had the nicest car and the biggest house was the envy of their friends.  Keeping up with the Joneses now means having the most advanced computer system, the newest iPad, the most apps on your iPhone, and the best peripheral devices.

But of the available technology, how much do you really need?  To determine what you actually NEED, you need to consider what you need it FOR.  Do you use your computer primarily to access the internet?  Do you play computer games?  Do you take, upload, print, and store lots of pictures?  These are the things to consider when you are deciding what type of system to purchase.  You want to make sure you have a fast enough processor to keep yourself from being frustrated as well as enough memory to serve your needs for a while.
